Europa 20 Jahre nach dem Mauerfall. Die einen
sprechen von ehemals kommunistischen Ländern,
vom ehemaligen Ostblock. Die anderen
beginnen vom ehemaligen Westen zu sprechen –
und benennen damit die anhaltende Auflösung der
Sozialstaaten. Im östlichen Teil Europas folgte der
Turbokapitalismus mit unermesslicher Geschwindigkeit
auf den Realsozialismus, vielleicht sind hier
die Transformationen sichtbarer. Diese Ausstellung
versteht Zeitgeschichte als wesentliches Element
zeitgenössischer Kunstpraxis.
Europe twenty years after the fall of the Wall. Some
are speaking of the former communist countries,
the former Eastern Bloc. Others have begun to
speak of the former West – and at the same time
of the ongoing disintegration of the social states.
In the eastern part of Europe, real socialism was
followed by turbo-capitalism virtually at the speed
of light – perhaps the transformation is more
visible there. This exhibition interprets
contemporary history as a fundamental element of
contemporary art practice.
