Die Österreichische Triennale zur Fotografie findet seit 1993 in Graz statt. Seither steht diese Veranstaltung jeweils unter einem aktuellen Thema und besitzt eine charakteristische Konzept- und Organisationsform: Internationale KünstlerInnen sind eingeladen, zum Thema eine neue Arbeit zu entwickeln. In der 4. Fototriennale mit dem.Titel "Sight.Seeing" werden Ansichtskarten einer Stadt produziert und im Grazer Stadtraum positioniert. Ziel ist es, den urbanen Raum über das "von außen" eingeführte Verfahren des Sightseeings in sich selbst, aber auch im virtuellen Raum, sowie im Raum der Printmedien abzubilden. Die künstlerische Fotografie wird an einem neuen essentiellen Bildtext jenseits illusionistischer Oberflächen schreiben.
Die Homepage der Fototriennale dokumentiert ausführlich ältere Arbeiten, wie auch das aktuelle Projekt, der KünstlerInnen und die 20 Präsentationsorte. Auf http://fototriennale.mur.at/ sind diese, wie auch der Ort der Eröffnung, zeitgerecht abzurufen. Zur Eröffnung erscheint ein Kurzführer; die Ausstellung wird von einem umfangreichen farbigen Katalog, der in der Fotohof edition erscheinen wird, begleitet. Sechs Texte (Werner Fenz, Ole Frahm /Friedrich Tietjen, Gregor Podnar, Hedwig Saxenhuber, Thomas Trummer, Ulf Wuggenig) widmen sich den spezifischen Themenbereichen des Projektes. Im Rahmen der Kunstvermittlung bietet der Verein KUNST.WERK mehrmals wöchentlich gesprächsorientierte Rundgänge für Schulklassen wie für Erwachsene an.

The Austrian Triennial on Photography has taken place in Graz since 1993. Since then, the event has been assigned an up-to-date theme each year and has a characteristic conceptual and organizational form: international artists are invited to develop a new work on the respective theme. In the 4th Photography Triennial, entitled "Sight.Seeing", picture postcards of the city will be produced and positioned in the city of Graz. The aim is to depict the urban space through the procedure of sightseeing in itself, a procedure that has been brought in "from outside", but also in virtual space and in the space of the print media.Artistic photography takes part in writing a new essential image text beyond the realm of illusionist surfaces.

A short guide will be published for the opening; the exhibition will be accompanied by an extensive color catalogue published by Fotohof edition. Six essays (Werner Fenz, Ole Frahm/Friedrich Tietjen, Gregor Podnar, Hedwig, Saxenhuber, Thomas Trummer, Ulf Wuggenig) are devoted to the specific thematic areas of the project.In the context of art education, the association KUNST.WERK offers discussion-oriented guided tours several times a week for school classes and for adults.
