Rundgang: Künstlergespräche mit Jörg Heiser
Mit Thomas Baryle (geb.1937) präsentiert der Grazer Kunstverein nach Hans-Peter Feldmann und Ilya Kabakov einen Künstler derselben Generation, der mit seinen Arbeiten der zeitgenössischen Kunst wichtige Impulse verleiht. Seit den 70er Jahren beschäftigt sich Thomas Bayrle mit Fragen der Massenproduktion, Massenansammlungen, mit der Aufhebung der Individualität und Standardisierung von Lebensabläufen.
Für Graz wird Thomas Bayrle eine Installation entwickeln, die sich aus den Punkten, und Pixeln eines fotografischen Porträts des Architekten Philip Johnson ergibt.
Erhöhungen und Vertiefungen der "Gesichtslandschaft " werden in ein räumliches modernistisch urbanes Modell übersetzt. Die makrologische Vertiefung entwickelt neue bauliche Akkumulationen, die nach ähnlichen Gesetzen von Auslassungen / Vergessen, von Krümmungen / Anpassung oder von Behauptung der eigenen Form entstehen.
Im Überlagern von Organismus, Stadt und Handlung (Fließband) untersucht Bayrle Zusammenhänge von industrieller Produktion, von Wachstum und der Organisation der Masse.
Following the exhibitions on Hans-Peter Feldmann and Ilya Kabakov the Grazer Kunstverein features Thomas Baryle (born in 1937) who, being an artist of the same generation, has lent significant impetus to contemporary art. Since the 70's Thomas Bayrle has been dealing with the issues of mass production, mass accumulation, with the abolition of individuality and the standardization of living processes. For his exhibition in Graz Thomas Bayrle will design an installation which will consist of points and pixels of a photographic portrait of the architect Philip Johnson. Elevations and recesses of this "facial landscape" will be converted into a spacial, modernistic urban model. The macrological recess gives rise to new structural accumulations which develop according to the similar laws of omitting / forgetting of bending / adjusting or of asserting the individual form. As he allows the organism, the city and the action (the assembly line) to overlap Bayrle examines implications of industrial production, growth and the organisation of the masses.
